Minutes, IBIS Quality Task Group 9 March 2021 11:00-12:00 EST (08:00-09:00 PST) ROLL CALL Intel Technology Michael Mirmak Micron Technology * Randy Wolff Signal Integrity Software: * Mike LaBonte Teraspeed Labs: * Bob Ross Zuken USA: * Lance Wang Everyone in attendance marked by * NOTE: "AR" = Action Required. -----------------------MINUTES --------------------------- Mike LaBonte conducted the meeting. Call for IBIS related patent disclosures: - None Call for opens: - None Review of previous meeting minutes: Minutes from the March 2, 2021 meeting were reviewed. Mike LaBonte said Lance Wang had been erroneously marked as attending. Randy Wolff moved to accept the minutes with change as noted. Bob Ross seconded. Without objection the minutes were accepted. ARs: - Bob Ross to write IBISCHK bug for Touchstone checking - Done - Mike LaBonte to fix typo in TSCHK2 documentation - Done - Mike LaBonte to fix erratic number formatting in TSCHK2 output - Not done - Mike LaBonte to add output size option to TSCHK2 alpha5 - Not done NEW ITEMS: New parser bug reports: Bob Ross showed IBISCHK bug215.ims. The file had a 2-port [Interconnect Model] terminal map being used with a 4-port Touchstone file. Bob said for Touchstone 1 files some tschk2 code could be used. Mike LaBonte suggested it might be easier to write new code for the limited parsing that was required. Bob said there were file features that might complicate that. The file also had a 4-port terminal map calling a 2-port file. Randy Wolff said he had sent a version of the bug report with some cleanups. Bob showed bug215.ami. He had commented out the first Description to avoid a duplicate Description check error. The file referenced both the 2-port and 4-port using Ts4file, but only one was valid. A Ts4file parameter using List format contained both 2 and 4-port, and should be considered invalid. Bob said the file did not pass IBISCHK due to multiple Ts4file parameters. Mike suggested fixing the Description associated with AMI_Version, rather than commenting it out. Bob said he would reduce the Touchstone files to one frequency. Mike suggested having 3 AMI files with one Ts4file in each. Randy suggested having just one Ts4file testcase parameter. Mike said the others could be left in but commented out. Randy said the first one already passed, it was not needed because it did not demonstrate a problem. He said there might be just two testcase files. Bob noted the same Touchstone files were used for both IMS and AMI tests. Bob said he would introduce the bug in the next IBIS Open Forum meeting. IBISCHK development: Bob noted that a BUG216 might be imminent. Randy said we should set a goal for when 7.1 would pass, and work backward to set a schedule for IBISCHK work.. He felt the IBIS 7.1 ratification vote probably would come in late August. Editorial work was already under way. Bob said BIRD210/211 might delay IBIS 7.1. We discussed the potential parser impacts of new BIRDs. Bob said he needed to reduce superfluous material from the contract draft. He said if BUG215 was included it would have to cover the EMD and EMS syntaxes also, not just IMS and AMI. Bob said the developer preferred including more changes at once, as opposed to multiple smaller developments. Bob said parameters should not be allowed when Touchstone files are called. Randy agreed, saying that applied to both [C comp model] and [Interconnect Model]. Mike asked how far in advance of ratification we might begin an IBISCHK development that included all desired changes. Bob suggested 3 choices to be made: - Should we include code security updates? Bob recommended not doing that. - Should we include IBIS 7.1 changes with all BIRDs? - Should we include fix bugs? Bob said there might be one more pending BIRD. Randy felt bugs 215 and 216 should be included. We agreed on delaying security fixes, which had the potential to slow down development. The verification might be held up by source code purchaser reviews. Randy suggested resuming work on the contract. Mike suggested asking for a new development estimate once we had a rough contract. Bob said we would also get SAE ITC approval. AR: Bob Ross to update IBISCHK development contract to include new BIRDs and bugs. TSCHK 2.0.1 development: - No discussion Tabled topics (no discussion without motion): - BIRD181.2 Randy Wolff moved to adjourn. Bob Ross seconded. Without objection the meeting ended.
